As the skeleton tries to get free and pulls with all it's might Rol has to hold on tightly. Luckily the skeleton doesn't manage to free itself so Rol doesn't have that much trouble holding on.

The throws the explosives and they roll along his shadow. They fall off a little too soon but Rol detonates them anyway and the blast reaches its target. The explosion sends glass shards flying and with a loud crack the arm comes off.
It falls to the ground and shatters, the glass shards crumble back into sand and with that the arm is gone.

When Rol looks up and shouts at Evinne he notices her green shield flicker for a split second. Unfortunately not long enough for him to react. But now he knows it is indeed affecting her.

The skeletons remaining arm is still stuck in the sand. Without another arm to help pull it out it'll probably be stuck there for a while. So Evinne decides on another approach.
The spiral shaped spear suddenly starts breaking and just like the lost arm turns back into to black sand.
Allowing the skeleton to lift its one remaining arm out of the sand.

Still hanging on the skeletons hip Rol sees the hand lift up first and then it comes crashing towards him. Intending to squash him like a bug.

Rol scrambled to climb higher on to the Giant to avoid the hand that was about to crush him. But in his slight panic he misplaced his shadows and slipped down towards the skeletons legs again. He regains he composure and tried his best to do the same with his grip.

"I'm praying that the ol' butterfingers insult does not apply to my shadows."

Rol takes a wrong step and tumbles further down. Just as the skeleton hand comes smacking down where Rol was six seconds ago. The impact is followed by a large cracking sound.
Meanwhile Rol is dangling two meters off the ground holding on to his shadows that somehow still have a grip on the skeleton.

Shards of black glass fall down on Rol. Some of them give him cuts but nothing too deep.
When the shards have stopped falling Rol looks back up. He sees a large crack on the Skeleton's hip, another on the leg just above him and also a smaller one on the hand that tried to smack him.
Black sand falls from all three cracks.

Evinne's shield flickers again for a split second.

"Is this technically self-harm?" Rol asked, trying to once again climb up the skeleton, this time he had an actually idea though. He would try to get to each of the cracks, place an explosive in each and pop goes the metaphorical weasel literal giant skeleten. He'd have to accomplish it quickly since he wouldn't have anything to keep the explosives in place. And honestly he didn't have a get down ssafely plan either, but he had forgotten he needed one.

(Nobody is gonna reply to Rol unfortunately. Maybe my decision to make Evinne mute may have made this fight less entertaining. Oops.

But I'd say it isn't self-harm, unless you would call hitting yourself in the face to smash a fly self-harm.)

Unfortunately for Rol he didn't need a get down safely plan. Because with only one misstep he ended up face down in the black sand. Without planting even one explosive.
So now he was as down as he could be, albeit not safely. It hurt a bit.

Luckily the Skeleton did not seem to notice. And was looking for Rol in all the wrong places. Allowing Rol to get back up on his feet. He only had a few scrapes, also some sand on and in his clothes.

"I hate sand it gets every... Wait I already plagiarized this monologue earlier." Rol dropped an explosive on the giant's left foot and started climbing up once again. "I'm pretty sure when a plan fails you're supposed to switch to a new one, but I'm not good at that. SO HERE WE GO."

(I'm assuming you're climbing up the right leg if you drop the explosive on the left? Also assuming you haven't detonated it yet.)

When Rol reaches the skeleton's knee he has to hold still for a moment when the Skeleton moves its leg. He doesn't slip this time.
He keeps climbing and reaches the first crack on the leg. The second crack on the hip is only a bit higher up.

The third crack is on the hand that is currently coming towards him.
It seems to want to grab him. (the hand, not the crack.)

(definitely not exploding it.. But i cant remember where I was thinking of putting it, especially knowing Rol. But Let's say ur assumption is right)

"Explosive number one." Rol says as he places one of his mini booms in the leg crack before he quickly tries to make his way to the hip crack to do the same.

Rol climbs up and manages to plant the second explosive as well. Just as he turns around the skeleton hand's bony fingers are closing in around him.
The black sand spills out of the last crack on the hand as it moves.

Evinne's shield flickers again.

Re: Necropalypse II DLC Aftermath

Post  Kiro Cloudwatcher on Fri Mar 23, 2018 3:00 pm

The hand grabs Rol and starts to lift him up. The bony glass fingers squeeze Rol. Before they actually start to hurt him he triggers the explosives.
Unfortunately because the hand moves so slowly he wasn't very far away from them yet.
The double blast's shockwave pushes the hand away with Rol in it.

But the force also breaks through the fingers and shatters them. The glass shards cut through Rol's clothes giving him some bad wounds.
Because the arm is being pushed away by the blast and because there are no more fingers to hold him, Rol is catapulted out of the hand.

Luckily he instinctively manages to pull his shadows in front of him and softens the impact. He also manages to roll when landing. Minimizing the impact and the damage. Although a few glass shards did get pushed deeper into his skin by the impact. Which is far from pleasant.
He has landed several feet away from the giant. He manages to stand back up and feels he can still keep fighting. (You've got 40% health left.)

When Rol looks up behind him he sees the Giant skeleton still reeling from the blasts. The left side of it's hip is completely blown off. It's only remaining hand only has half a thumb and 2/3rds of its palm left.
The crack in its leg is spreading rapidly and then there's a loud crunch sound as the leg just completely snaps off.
The giant leg falls to the ground and shatters into a thousand pieces, which all turn back into black sand.

The giant skeleton can barely keep itself standing on one leg. It wobbles from side to side and is about to fall over. Evinne's shield flickers constantly. She won't be able to keep it up for much longer.
In her desperation she tries for one last attack.
The skeletons jaw opens and the two glowing green lights in its eyes migrate down to its mouth. There they form one big ball of energy that siphons energy from the nearby river of souls. The energy ball grows larger by the second.
The skeleton does it's best to keep it's head aimed at Rol while charging up this final attack.

"I'm super scared that in trying to dodge this attack, I'll actually get hit by it since the giant's all wobbly and stuff.." Rol considered that possibility for a second, then ran towards the giant. "Can't hit me if I'm under it."

Re: Necropalypse II DLC Aftermath

Post  Kiro Cloudwatcher on Mon Mar 26, 2018 5:37 pm

Rol starts sprinting forward. The skull struggles to keep up with Rol. Then just when it thinks Rol is in range, it fires. Rol however has built up enough speed that when the blast is fired he is standing right underneath the skeleton.

Rol sees a bright flash behind him as the skull fires a beam of green energy right at the ground. The shockwave that follows pushes Rol back a bit but he isn't knocked off his feet.
The skeleton however has less luck.
The recoil from this massive attack pushes it back as well. But without a second leg to support itself it just keeps falling.

The beam of green energy moving upward away from Rol into the sky. Leaving a trail of molten black glass where it hit the surface.

Soon the gigantic skeleton is completely in the hands of gravity and smashes against the ground. Rol watches as all of its glass bones shatter into a million pieces. Black glass and sand fill the air. In the middle of all this is Evinne, her magic shield also shatters when it hits the ground. She hits the ground hard.

A small wave of black sand washes over Rol's shoes. He watches as Evinne slowly emerges from the black sand and gets on her feet. The old woman is badly wounded now, she seems to be bleeding from multiple wounds. But when she glares at Rol there seems to still be a will to fight left in her eyes. There's about 8 meters between her and Rol.

She moves her fingers in a signal and black sand surrounds her again. This time it's far less, she is too tired to make another giant. Instead she makes the glass fit around her body so that it looks like a skeleton. Her head is covered by a black skeleton mask and in her hand she holds a small curved blade made out of the same black glass.

She doesn't attack. Instead she just stands there with her weapon ready, breathing heavily.

"Uh... Need a minute?" Rol asked, and scratched his head. "Y'know I feel real bad about the whole beating up a senior thing."

The bounty hunter sat on the ground, still facing Evinne. "What were slash are you trying to do again?"

Evinne hesitates as Rol sits down. She looks at him, unsure if she even wants to respond.
After a moment of silence she lifts a finger. It starts glowing blue, just like last time she used mana to write in the air. She takes a deep breath and starts writing.

I came here
to find
Anhiroman's
Ri

Right when she puts the dot on the i, her gaze wanders to a shining object in the black sand. She doesn't finish her message. Rol follows her gaze and sees the ring as well. It's closer to him than it is to her but not by much.
It's a pretty large ring made of gold and has a large black gem on it.
Rol and Evinne turn to look at each other, then at the ring, back at each other, back at the ring.

An awkward pause.

When Rol looks back at Evinne for a third time she does not follow. Instead she squeezes her hand around her blade, slashes it through her floating words and starts running towards the ring.

"That's not a great sign."

Rol eyed the ring, trying to judge if shooting at it would have enough force to move it, if not he'd make a break for it too.

Rol eyes the ring, thinks the sand is loose enough and the ring is small enough to move it if shot at. As long as he doesn't miss.

We see time slowing down as everything that happens next does so in slow motion.
Rol aims one of his Pews at the ring carefully to make sure the bullet will hit it just right.

Evinne still running towards the ring not noticing Rol aim his gun.
Rol presses his finger down on the trigger.

Evinne looks at Rol as the gun fires the bullet. Her eyes widen in a panic.
The bullet flies out of the barrel and flies through the air.

Evinne stops running and screams.
The bullet zooms straight towards the ring hitting it and causing it to shatter into several pieces.

The black gem and the broken gold flying through the air.
The gem shattering before it hits the ground.

We move out of slow motion as what remains of the ring is scattered across the black sand.
A stream of dark energy is released from the gem. It travels up the river of souls and out into the world outside.
The very upset Evinne glares at Rol and screams again.
Rol is still sitting down when he sees the screaming woman charging towards him, her blade drawn and ready to strike.

"So, angry? Angry." Rol watched as the Red robe rushed towards him.

"I'm not sure if this'll stop you, but hitting me with your sword sure isn't gonna fix the ring I totally broke.. By accident by the way." The bounty hunter wasn't really sure what to do, kicking an old angry tired lady seemed like a weird thing to do.. He hoped he'd be able to dodge sitting down.

Evinne doesn't seem to listen to Rol at all. She strikes with her blade made from black glass. Rol tries to dodge by scooting to the side. But he isn't fast enough and she runs the blade straight through his leg.

It takes a few seconds before Rol realizes whats happening. He looks at the blade sticking through his leg and realizes what just happened, that's when the pain hits him like a brick.

(He smiles with his eyes? I don't remember if those are covered by the mask.)

Evinne lets go of her blade as Rol limps up.
She is breathing heavily now. The anger fades from her eyes and is replaced by despair. She just falls on her knees and begins sobbing. Her glass skeleton armor starts falling to the ground piece by piece, so do her tears.

The glass armor turns back into sand. Unfortunately, so does the blade in his leg. Now with nothing to stop it the blood comes shooting out. Rol feels starts feeling faint. His hand isn't enough to plug the leak.

Evinne doesn't seem to notice this. Or she doesn't care. Either way she keeps crying.
Rol tries to say something but before he can everything goes dark and he feels himself fall down.
--

Instead of feeling himself hit the ground the next thing he feels is a bed under him. Also, a dull pain in his leg still. As he opens his eyes everything is a blur around him.
However there is one thing he instantly recognizes despite the blur, it's Val.
She's sitting in a chair next to his bed, asleep.

Slowly the focus returns to his sight. He's back in his Castle room. The only difference from when he last slept here is the hole in the wall. Which is a leftover from the General's siege of the castle.

"Have a died and gone to an oddly specific heaven?" Rol said to himself quietly. "Wait she's asleep, alas there goes my vaguely humourous observation.

He looks towards the hole in the wall (that leads outside? right?) to try to gauge the time of day. He sat himself up and groaned, the pain in his leg unpleasant as you'd expect. "Time to swap? You'd be awfully more comfortable here." Rol said, trying to wake up Val.

Out of the hole Rol can see the sun peeking over the horizon. He can't really tell if it's setting or rising. Was his room on the west or east side of the castle? He can't remember.

Val starts to wake up when Rol speaks to her. She grumbles. "No, mom I don't want a hedgehog."
She yawns and slowly opens her eyes. "Oh.." Rol notices that she isn't wearing her armor at the moment. He recognizes her dress as the one she finds least uncomfortable.

She blinks a few times, obviously still sleepy. When she notices Rol is awake she lunges at him and puts her arms around him. "You're awake! I was so worried, you lost a lot of blood. That stuff is supposed to be inside you, you dummy."

She stays like that for a while hugging Rol.

Re: Necropalypse II DLC Aftermath

Post  Kiro Cloudwatcher on Sat Apr 28, 2018 4:55 pm

Val lets go of Rol and sits next to him on the bed. "Well.."

--
Two days earlier:

We see Val standing on one of the castle's towers, her sword still in her hands. She breathes a sigh of relief. Aewynne, who had been her rival when they were young girls and eventually became one of her most dangerous enemies, now finally lay dead at her feet.

Val wiped away a tear that started running down her cheek. This wasn't the time to cry. The battle wasn't over. She stepped towards the edge and looked over the battlefield. All the undead had been slayed. Corpses and shattered bones covered the field as far as she could see.
"This is going to take a long time to clean up.." She sighed and put away her sword.

"Mioki, you still have some energy left?" She turned to the disguised succubus.

Mioki jumped up in the air a bit for no reason. "Yes! Mioki still has a bit left! Not much though. Mioki is going to need new batteries soon." She pouted.

"Good, follow me. Rol might need our help." The Empress started running towards the elevator.
Mioki followed, skipping along as joyful as always.
The two women jumped down the elevator shaft and used their wings to glide down.
--

Next we see Val entering the River of souls source. Mioki stays behind, too afraid of the ominous floating black orb.

Immediately she sees Rol in the distance lying in a pool of blood. She gasps, but then senses Rol's soul still in his body. She realizes there's still time to save him so she rushes over to him.

Only when she gets there does she notice Evinne is also still there. The older woman is still on her knees, sobbing. Val isn't quite sure how to react to this.

--
Next we see Val coming out of the orb, carrying an unconscious Rol. She tells Mioki to take care of him, hands him over and heads back into the orb.

The succubus kisses Rol and starts healing him. But she doesn't have enough energy left. Luckily she manages to stabilize him.

Just then Val comes back out, this time carrying the exhausted Evinne. She tells Mioki to Carry Rol to the elevator.

--
Next we see Val pacing around Rol's room as the medics and healers try to save him. She slaps her own face to keep herself awake. She hasn't slept since yesterday morning.

--
Then we see her in the dungeons. Entering the larger, more comfortable prison normally reserved for royal prisoners of war. Evinne is sitting on a bed there, her wounds bandaged and her hands restrained by magic absorbing cuffs.

"Alright, this is the part where you tell me what the fuck happened." Val says, glaring at her prisoner.

Evinne does not say anything. She simply opens her mouth, making it clear that she cannot talk because her tongue has been removed.

"Oh.."

--
Back in the present day, in Rol's room:

Val scratches her head. "We tried giving her paper and a pencil so she could write. But she just fell asleep. After that I went back to your room where I was told you were stable and should be alright with some rest. I too was advised to get some rest. Instead I sat down on that chair to wait for you to wake up. But I guess I dozed off anyway."

She holds and lightly squeezes Rol's hand. "I'm glad you're alright. Anyway, Now that everyone is awake we should probably go see if old red riding hood is willing to write now. And if she's not.." She pulls out a fluffy feather. "We'll use your tried and tested torture method to convince her otherwise." She grins.
