Necropalypse: The River of Souls

Rol formed a shadow wall behind the group, so that the shockwave wouldn't fling them too far, as the distance might give the wraith king some time to recover.

"Please hold, please hold, please hold."

The wall held.
It also hurt badly, when smacking into it.

Val and Reathy grunted but soon recovered.
Near the left edge the Wraith slowly climbed back to his feet. His halberd nowhere to be seen, probably fell down into the abyss.


"Quick now is our chance, before he gets back up completely." Val and Reathy charged at the Wraith king and prepared to fire more attacks at him.

The wraith king himself also charged up energy as he attempted to get back on his feet.

The bounty hunt decreased the length of the shadow wall, making it dense then manipulated it to charge forward at the wraith king. With him sitting on top of it of course. He planned to bail before it made contact. "Yippee ky-ah."

The wraith king dodged Val's darkness beam and the ghosts. But the ghost turned around. Some were struck by the darkness beam and exploded but the others went after the wraith king.

He ducked and braced himself. The explosion that followed pushed him closer to the edge.
He began to walk forward but then he saw Rol and the shadow wall rushing towards him.
Rol bailed at the last second, for the wraith king however it was already too late.

The wall crashed into him and pushed him over the edge. He fell towards the abyss.

"It will not end untill I say it does."

Look I'm the GM here and I say it's over. Wait.. What are you..Oh god no








I was defeated easily once before, I will not allow that to happen again. I will have my victory.

I will be taking control now.



As I fall towards the abyss below I realize I have to sacrifice my dread armor. No matter, I can make another. I cast off my armor and watch it fall into the abyss. I ascend back to the Island to smite those who would undo my work.



As I appear before them in my wraith like form they tremble beneath me. Knowing that I


"Uh, nobody's trembling." The red haired woman says.



"What?" I reply in confusion. I control this world now. And I say they are trembling!


"You can't control the player characters." I hear reganya's voice coming out of Death's nephew's mouth.


"Nonsense!" They aren't even player characters! Only that odd hooded guy, whatever his name is, is a player character.


"Could we please stop breaking the fourth wall. It's giving me a headache." Death's nephew says.


"And I'm sharing his head so yes please stop it."


"That's what she said."



Death's nephew/Reganya sighs.







"SILENCE!"

"OH BOY"Rol yelled at the top of his lungs. 


"Are you breaking the forth wall, are you doing this to yourself? That's basically my domain champ." The bounty hunter said excitedly. "Tips, don't do it in first person that's just conceited. If you wanna be the gm, you can't normally force the player characters into an action, you gotta make the setting seem like the response you want from them is the one that's most warranted. For example. Ahem."


As the wraith king listened to the seemingly insane hooded man, he could hear a strange confidence from his voice, a strange attribute one should have when dealing with such unworldly events. While he was not sold on the hooded's wisdom, listening may prove be fruitful.

"Like that man. Like that." 

"Oh, that makes sense." He nodded as he listened to the hooded guy's expl-


"Wait a second! Why am I listening to you?! I'm in control here! Not you!"


"He's right though. If you're gonna be the gm you should at least try to be professional about it. Even if it's just a two person forum roleplay." The red haired woman suggested.


"Enough of this nonsense!" Anhiroman was getting annoyed. He was in control now, he could kill these fools on a whim. Which is exactly what he did next.


"That's better! But you can't just kill us off in such an anti-climatic way. That's bad story telling."


"That's exactly what happened to me last time!"


"True." Reganya nodded.


"Fine I'll play this your way." His frustrations were reaching a boiling point. He stretched out his arms and lifted his hands up.
The glass Islands around them stopped rotating and then suddenly all of them came rushing towards the middle Island that everyone was on.

The impact shook the island hard and several large chunks of black glass were chipped off.
The Islands all stuck together now. Creating one large surface of black glass with some holes in it. The lemures on the Islands could now get across and attack the fools who dare stand against me!


"You're doing it again. Also what are Lemures?" The red haired woman said as she tried to keep her balance as the islands kept shaking. 

Anhiroman pointed at the creatures they had encountered before.
The same creatures he had created in his experiments. They were failed prototypes but could still be useful.
With his succesful experiment, the dread suit, destroyed; he hoped the lemures would not tear apart the fools too badly. Their corpses could still come in handy.

"Who's Anhiroman? Oh wait, are we done with the fourth wall thing?"

Rol scratched the back of his head, watching the lemures approach. "What now friends?"

"I think he made himself the point-of-view character in third person perspective." The red headed woman commented.
"Stop calling me that. If you're gonna refer to me at least use my proper title."


"And whats that?" Anhiroman asked.


"Empress." The red ha- The Empress answered.


"Better." She nodded and turned her attention to the aproaching lemures.
She grabbed a bunch of glowing blue sticks and handed them to the hooded guy. "You remember what these are right? Go and do the thing."

Realizing the sticks were important anhiroman decided he wouldn't let them do whatever they were planning. He charged at them and fired a blast of shadow-ectoplasm.


"We'll keep him busy!" Death's nephew/reganya shouted as they sent a dozen of ghosts at Anhiroman. He prepared to absorb them all but they exploded in his face.

The Empress started to chant in demonic. Presumably some sort of spell. Something with walls, myAnhiromans demonic is rusty.

The lemures approached quickly.

"I remember what to do with these. I think. But what about thoooossseee?" Rol took the mana markers and started placing them between the lemures and the group "If this doesn't work we are screwing ourselves ovvveeerrr."

"Yeah. But we don't really have a beter way of dealing with them." The Empress said to the hooded guy after she finished chanting. Shadow walls rose up around the middle island. The Lemures flailed their long arms against the barrier trying to break it.

Anhiroman grunted. They stopped his lemures with a simple wall. But it didn't matter. Now they were trapped in there with him. And it was only a matter of time before the barrier would break down.


"We'll kill you before that happens!" Death's nephew said.

Anhiroman laughed. "You cannot kill me. I control this world and even if you somehow manage to trick me I can simply write myself back in."


"Then we need to get the fourth wall back somehow." The Empress picked her sword back up.


"Or we don't give him a chance to write himself back in. We could get the actuall GM to return or one of us takes control. But first we'll need to kill him to make him lose control temporarily." Reganya said as Death's nephew landed next to the others.


"We'd have to move quick for that to work." The Empress frowns. "We also need a plan to kill him in the first place. I doubt that'll be easy."

Anhiroman listened to them plan. He would not allow them to succeed. He raised his hand to the sky and leeched the energy from the river of souls, making himself even more powerfull. They stood no chance against a god.

"Can Reathy do that?" Rol asked. "This guy was your aunt's student right? I bet you can do that."

"Maybe. I have no idea how though." Death's nephew/raganya answered. "We really need to start doing something though. The longer we talk the more energy he can absorb."


"We need a plan to beat him though." The empress said.



"In this form he looks similar to the Wraiths he controls. Maybe we can defeat him in the same way as a wraith."


"None of us know light magic though."

Deaths nephew frowns and turns to Rol. "Remember how you pulled those wraiths apart in the past? You could try doing the same thing to this guy."


"Sounds like a plan. We'll keep him busy so you can grab on to his shadow parts."

Reathy summoned a pack of ghosts and sent them at the wraith king. The ghosts were drawn into the vortex of energy and absorbed along with it. But the empress distracted Anhiroman long enough for one of the ghosts to explode right as I was absorbing it.

The explosion blew off Anhiroman's arm. But he simply regrew it out of the energy he had absorbed.
However, this distracted him temporarily.

What? No it did not.
Yes it did! Now's your chance Rol!

Rol sent his Shadows towards the wraith king, they grasped at the darkness in Annie's form. 

"This is gonna hurt me more than, you i'm pretty sure."

The hooded guy's statement was correct. He would soon find out how-
Rol took his chance and it didn't hurt him.


"What? You can't do that!" The wraith king yelled in confusion.

These fools think they can take over my domain? Just because they have a fraction of Death's power? I am more powerfull than your aunt ever was! You can't hope to-


"Actually, we're not doing anything." Reathy answered.


"What?" The wraith king was totally confused.


"Huh.. If we aren't doing that then who is?" Death's nephew asked. Wait, they aren't?


"Could it be? Death is still alive? No.. Impossible.." Anhiroman knew she died. He watched her die  but who else could have the power to..



"Me." Valkyria announced. She was the one fighting to control the fourth wall. She was not a soul reaper but Death's blood flowed through her veins too.


"Impossible!" Anhiroman grew angry. These mortal fools had been annoying him for too long.


"Don't worry. You won't be able to be annoyed by us after we kill you." Valkyria took a step forward. Two shadow wings sprouted from her back and her eyes started to glow.


Meanwhile Rol kept pulling the shadows away from the wraith king.
But this was no problem for Anhiroman. He simply grabbed on to the shadow and
Suddenly Reathy got an idea.


"We did? Or we do? What? My head hurts.."


They flew straight at the Wraith king
But Anhiroman fired a beam of necro energy to stop
A shadow beam from Valkyria and a tug from Rol's shadow made him miss.
What? You can't do that!
Reathy flew straight through him grabbing his ectoplasm half and pulling from the other direction.


"Oh. Yes, this is a good idea. Yup."
"Told you."

"Pull guys!"

"Man, finally things are making sense for once."

Rol pulled using his shadows.

"What part of this is making sense?" Doomy asked while he and Reganya pulled with all their strength.


But it was no match for the strength of Anhiroman.
It was still enough for the shadow and ectoplasm to start seperating.
"Stop that!" Anhiroman shouted. These mortal fools cannot simply pull a god apart! That is impossible!
And yet they were doing exactly that.
"No they weren't!" The wraith king shouted. He could not believe he was about to be defeated.


"I will not allow this!" He screamed.
Anhiroman aimed one hand at Death's nephew and another at the hooded guy and fired a

With both of his hands aimed and preparing to fire he was distracted. This allowed Rol and Reathy to make one final pull. Unraveling the wraith k
Anhiroman would fire before he unraveled and kill both of them.

But before he could do that Valkyria jumped into the air and flew straight at the wraith king.

"...Fuck"
Her black sword sliced the wraith king right through the middle. Rol and Reathy pulled their respective parts to them. Reathy absorbed the ectoplasm and the shadows dissipated.
The Wraith king had been Defated.

"Hell yeah." Rol paused. "And now that's we're exhausted and shit the lemure's eat us and it's game over. They breakin' through the box any time soon?"

"Did you forget? I'm in control of this place now. They won't break through unless I say so. Which I won't." Valkyria said as she landed, her wings fading.
"I wonder what else I can do. For example making those clothes of yours disappear?" She teased Rol and giggled.

"Please don't." Reathy commented.

She looked over to Reathy. "Or I could make them confess their love for each other."

Reathy sighed. "How about we just fix the river of souls and get the hel out of here."

Valkyria knew they were right. She wanted to play around with this power but each moment they waited more people would be killed by the undead outside. "Right, let's end this." She nodded.

Reathy walked over to the pillar in the middle of the island. They reached their hand into the river and carefully pulled it away from the glass pillar. They then flew up into the sky to stabilize the whirlpool of souls above them.

Valkyria walked over to the pillar and readied her black sword. She took a deep breath and smashed the pillar into hundreds of shards.

In the sky above the whirlpool of souls slowed down and became more like a waterfall.
As the river of souls fell down on the island the glass floor began to crack.

Valkyria summoned her wings again. "Let's get out of here." She grabbed Rols hand and flew up into the sky. She carried Rol as she and Reathy flew away.
The black glass islands crumbling beneath them once again becoming black sand.
The lemures sank into the sand and were buried as the sand filled up the crater. Where the center Island once floated a lake of souls started to form.

Once they were safely back in the castle Val let Rol back down. And Reganya walked out of Doomy. Val's wings disappeared as she sat down on the floor. She let out a deep sigh of relief and exhaustion. "We did it."

(WHY DIDN'T MY POST GO THROUGH FUCK.)

"Not in front of the kids."

Rol said in response to Val's teasing. 

"Nah, don't i'm pretty sure sexual tension is the source of their power."

He watched as they did the thing, to do the thing. or fix the thing... The thing. 

"Some of it. There's still mounds of undead things. Or will the refatal damage they took while unundead actually occur?"

(Dunno man. That sucks.)


"Well no, but they can be killed normally now. There are people out there already doing just that. And less people turn after dying." Val said, still sitting on the ground.


"They're also less likely to come here. Most likely scenario is that they'll just scatter. They'll cause some incidents here and there but nothing major. " Reganya added.


"What she said. What I'm really worried about is the General and his army. He's been trying to kick me off my throne for years. He won't stop now." Val got back on her feet. "Alright enough resting, we should get back to the surface."

Doomy and Reganya nod and follow her to the elevator.

As the elevator ascends Doomy interupts the silence. "So.. The river is fixed but that's not enough is it? I mean without our aunt what's stopping someone from breaking it again?"


"We are. I spend most of my time in the castle. I'll protect and watch the source. You can now sense the river right? You can protect the outside. Fix any problems that occur. Souls getting stuck, pyramids blocking the river etc. You're a true soul reaper now brother." Val answered.


"Well yeah but I can't do that on my own. I can only do those things when I'm fused with Reganya."


"There's an obvious solution to that." She looked at Reganya.


"Huh. Yeah, I guess there is.." He also turns to Reganya.

"How cute. You're blushing, brother." Val giggled.


"I am NOT! "


"He's undead. He can't blush."


"But he would be if he could. And you're defending him now, adorable."

Doomy and Ren sighed.

Once they get back to the surface they see soldiers temporarily fixing the holes in the castle. And down on the ground they are cleaning up the battlefield of corpses. Reaver and a few other people are fixing the ornithopter. The sky is still dark but the rain has stopped.

Mioki suddenly comes bursting through the wooden planks the soldiers put over a hole in the floor and tackles Val. "Ooomph!"
Val hugs the succubus in disguise.


"You live! Mioki was worried!" Mioki clings to Val.


"It's okay Mioki. We're alright, we fixed the thing."


"Yay!!"

Mioki released Val and jumped in the air randomly.
Val smiled. "You know what I really want to do right now?"


"Sing and dance?" Mioki asks excitedly.

Val shakes her head. "No, take a nap."


"Mioki wants to sing. But a nap sounds good too!"
She then sits down, closes her eyes and starts to snore.


"I meant in a bed. Mioki don't sleep here on the battlements..Mioki, no." Val sighed.
Mioki was already long gone to the dream realm.

"You guys should get some rest too." She turned to Rol, Doomy and Reganya.
Doomy shook his head. " I've napped enough for the rest of the month."
"True."


"I'm not tired either. I do feel a bit hungry though." Reganya said.


"Okay, you can go grab whatever you want from the kitchen."


"Thank you." And with that Reganya sank through the floor.


"What about you Rol?" Val looked at Rol with a wink and a suggestive smile.

The bounty hunter waved as Ren left for the kitchen.


"A bed sounds nice. Yours perhaps?" Rol winked and clicked then paused. "Well that was just as awkward out loud as it was in my head."

“Technically all the beds in this castle are mine.” Val chuckled. “But yes, that was what I was trying to imply.”


Doomy runs away covering his ears. “I do not want to hear this conversation!”


Val chuckled again and lead Rol back into the castle.





About an hour later...


The sun starts to break through the dark clouds, lighting up the ground below. A ray of light falls on a bird. The bird flies off towards the castle. It flies over a group of soldiers sitting down and resting.
One of them cracks a joke, they laugh.




The bird lands on the battlement wall where Doomy is looking into the distance. His trance is broken when he notices the small bird. It suddenly flies away, startled by Reganya coming up through the floor behind him. They turn to each other, Reganya steps forward and takes his hand in hers. Doomy smiles.
They stand next to each other holding hands, watching the sun rise above the clouds.




Behind them Mioki is still sleeping and snoring loudly. Somehow she ended up upside down on a stack of hay. Luckily none of the guards notice her horns peeking out of her hair.




Rol and Val stand in front of the bedroom window looking at the same view. Too lazy to get dressed they just wrapped the sheets around themselves. They embrace each other and share a kiss. She smiles and lays her head on his shoulder. Secretly touching his butt underneath the sheets.




The fixed ornithopter flies by as it heads back to the Inn, with Reaver in the pilot seat. Riaden and Archon sit on the edge of the side door. The sun shining on their back.


Elsewhere Herst stands in front of an army. He raises his scythe into the air. The soldiers follow his example and cheer. Around them lay their discarded banners. The sun reflects off their weapons and Herst turns to look at it.


Jasmine and her dwarven bodyguard stand nearby and also turn to look at the rising sun, they smile.
In the distance they see Laura the wandering sauropod walking by slowly.




Sometime later...


Scott arrives at the castle and takes a look around. “Uh, guys? Did I miss the thing? I missed the thing didn't I? Well f**- “

“Unit-74797 has been muted.”
